Trendcheck: Cropped wide jeans

TRENDCHECK: KURZE WEITE JEANS

Also: Abschneiden und ausprobieren!

TRENDCHECK: CROPPED WIDE JEANS

I don't have to follow each trend but I can give it a try!

When I discovered cropped wide jeans for the first time my thoughts were kind of "OMG... never ever I will wear that style!"

That's how I often feel about new trends - whether they are really new or just revivals from the 70s. 80s, or 90s... How come our reluctance slowly turns into cravings? Because of clever marketing strategies? Because we have seen our favourite celebrity/blogger wearing it? Because we think we'd miss out otherwise and our current look is dated? Because we are open and eager to try out new things?

Honestly, probably it is a bit of everything!
It always takes quite a while until I am ready to climb on the bandwagon. I don't see myself as a trendsetter but watch a trend and only very slowly get into it (if at all!) I have to feel comfortable and make it my own and want to incorporate it into my personal style and not the other way round!

DIY cropped wide jeans

A pair of flared jeans were hiding in my wardrobe and I hadn't worn them for several months. In winter I find them not practical at all, especially when there is rain, ice or snow. I cannot wear them with high heels and of course they don't match flats anyway and I can't tuck them in my winterboots either...

Solution: I cut them off to find out whether it's a style I want to wear!
Actually, I like the look and do feel comfortable pairing it with my snake print booties from last year's collection by Mango.

It is an alternative to my skinny or straight cut jeans and a casual option for weekends (I wouldn't wear them to the office!) Assuming it is a temporary trend, I wouldn't invest a lot of money unless it is a budget friendly option... or another DIY project - there is a pair of black flares waiting ;-)

Stylemix: Combination with a classic faux fur coat

When you are following my blog for a while, you know I love a good stylemix and pairing these jeans with a silky shirt and my faux fur coat means I still stick to my personal style.

Merry Christmas

Today my children returned home for the holidays - Alena had a safe flight over from London and my son Lucas who is studying in Northern Bavaria picked her up from Munich airport and they arrived here together this afternoon. They are my biggest gift ever and having them both with me means Christmas has started! Oh, and BTW, I have just loaded the washing machine for the 5th time (sounds familiar???)

My next post will be online after the holidays but in the meantime please follow me on Instagram and Facebook for daily updates - of course including my Christmas tree which I will not put up before Christmas Eve (that's the German tradition!)

Merry Christmas to all my readers!
Annette
