A HINT OF NEON

The neon trend has been around for a while and will be up and coming even more this spring and summer.
A bright neon yellow for my age group? Well, at least not in big doses for me. Less is more.
However, if you get the right balance by adding bold colours to neutral, sophisticated pieces you can create a modern and stylish appearance at any age!

Be careful with neon high heels or nail varnish as both can easily look cheap.

If you are not quite sure, rather go for a fresh lime green, a soft pastel yellow or even a warmer hue of yellow than a real neon as it can make a more mature skin look pale.

I love the silky texture of this tunic dress and I am wearing it with black opaque tights and heels which is always nice and make your legs look longer (I am only 5' 4'').
It is a sheer and flowing fabric and that's why shape-wear is the key! How do you feel about shape-wear? I have a selection in black and nude and feel much more confident when I am wearing form fitting clothes. Chose high quality from Spanx or shop on a budget from H+M.

I recently came across these fabulous cartoons by Denise Dorrance about fashionistas and working mums and couldn't stop laughing... ;-) I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

  9. I'm a little afraid of neon myself (maybe it's because that cartoon is a perfect representation of me!), but the little touches in your look are very classy and doable! Love the necklace. You always have great jewelry.

  17. Love that necklace! It's just the right amount of neon. I am with you about the neon shoes and nail varnish - too much and cheap looking on most.

  28. You did it again.... Looking absolutely stylish and gorgeous. And sophisticated... a state I seldom achieve. Alas. That necklace is so good with the dress (I am a neclace fan). Never would have thought it came from H&M.
I bought a neon pink top. To wear long over skinnies or jeans but also in a pensil skirt. Never thought about my skin complexion but I think it is alright otherwise I would probably have noticed that something was wrong.
Bodyshapers are a way of life for me now. I nearly wear them all the time. I am one size less, no fat bulging anywhere. Perfect.
