Feminine styling of a trenchcoat

Trenchcoat weather arrived! I usually wear my classic beige trenchcoat (seen here in red) but for a couple of years I also have this frilled coat in my wardrobe and it was time to get it out again. The ruffles along the collar and sleeves instantly give it a more elegant, feminine touch opposed to the traditional sporty trenchcoat style.

Underneath I am wearing basics - a black, very light oversized jumper (the only one I have by the way... I usually prefer cardigans) and leggings. With my passion for accessories and details I added my new statement necklace by Charming Charlie, a lovely present from my colleagues Tanja and Gigi. Thank you so much!

I am loving my studded handbag and suede leather boots from Mango both in a warm chestnut brown which is ideal for autumn and so versatile and easy to combine. Actually I couldn't decide on either this pair or the same booties in a snake print and ordered both pairs ;-) Can't wait to wear them!

Although the snow is now gone in the centre of town, there is still a bit left in the surrounding area where we took these photos. It is getting warmer now but we still have frost over night which means I stored away my quilted jackets but I am still changing between woolen coats and trenchcoats.

Besides my classic beige one I have the red trenchcoat for a couple of years now (worn hear last year) and they never go out of style.

Sometimes I do need a statement colour and that's definitely the case with this bright red! My mum never wears red (although it suits her!) and I think because of that influence, I never wore this colour until only a couple of years ago.

Der Schnee ist jetz im Ort und zum Glück auch weitestgehend in meinem Garten verschwunden und macht Krokussen Platz, aber in manchen Gegenden außerhalb liegt doch noch einiges!
Meine Daunenmäntel habe ich in den Keller geräumt, aber zur Zeit wechsle ich noch zwischen Wollmänteln und Trenchcoats ab, denn nachts haben wir noch Frost. Ich habe einen klassisch beigen und diesen knallroten schon seit ein paar Jahren (letztes Jahr hier gezeigt), aber sie sind einfach zeitlos.

Und manchmal muss man einfach eine auffällige Farbe sein! Meine Mama trägt nie Rot, obwohl es ihr sehr gut stehen würde und vermutlich dadurch bedingt, habe ich mein Leben lang kein Rot getragen. Erst vor wenigen Jahren habe ich diese Farbe für mich entdeckt!

HOW TO MIX BURGUNDY AND PASTELS FOR SPRING

BURGUNDY, PASTELS & ROSES

All shades of Burgundy have been amongst my favourite colours for the autumn/winter season and I certainly won't give them up but mixed this beautiful colour with the new pastel trend for spring.

Last weekend I spent most of the time on my sunny terrace {here and here are some Instagram updates} and enjoyed the beautiful weather. I wore this casual spring outfit for some errands around town.

For this look I shopped my own closet and got up some spring clothes from storage. Leggings (or call them treggings) and one of my favourite adea layering tops. The trenchcoat got an overhaul from my seamstress who shortened it and my sling pumps made their re-appearance. I can't believe I am wearing open shoes in February! Last year I tried them on at the ZARA store in Munich but didn't buy them. The following week a surprise parcel with the lovely shoes arrived - a present by my daughter :-)

BORDEAUX, PASTELLFARBEN UND ROTE ROSEN

Bordeauxtöne gehörten zu meinen Lieblingsfarben der Herbst/Wintersaison und ich möchte sie auf keinen Fall aufgeben, sondern habe sie mit Rosé kombiniert, das zusammen mit anderen Pastellfarben in diesem Frühling ein großes Thema sein wird.

Letztes Wochenende habe ich die meiste Zeit bei Traumwetter und viel Sonne auf meiner Terrasse verbracht {hier und hier gibt es Eindrücke auf Instagram}, aber für ein paar Besorgungen und Einkäufe im Ort habe ich diesen lässigen Frühlingslook mit Leggings getragen.

Alles vorhandene Teile aus meinem Kleiderschrank, dazu habe ich bereits einige Sachen, die ich über den Winter verstaut hatte, aus dem Keller geholt, wie diesen Trenchcoat. Ich hatte ihn meiner Schneiderin gegeben, die ihn für mich gekürzt hat und so wird er mich nun durch die neue Saison begleiten. Und ich kann es kaum glauben, im Februar offene Schuhe tragen zu können! Diese bordeauxfarbenen Slingpumps hatte mir meine Tochter letztes Jahr geschenkt. Ich hatte lange überlegt, ob ich sie bei ZARA in München kaufen sollte und dann kam einige Tage später plötzlich das Überraschungspäckchen an - meine Tochter hatte sie für mich bestellt :-)

ZEBRA IS THE NEW LEOPARD

Besides leopard (here) and snake prints (here), I am in love with a new animal pattern: Zebra prints make an appearance today. I love the classy colour combination of black&white with bright red, paired with silver jewellery.

My skilled seamstress turned this previously wide, long open tunic into a blouse - much more my style and I can now wear it with skirts and trousers.

ZEBRA IS THE NEW LEOPARD

Ich liebe Leoprints (hier gezeigt) und Schlangenmuster (wie hier) und habe nun ein weiteres Tiermuster für mich entdeckt: Heute sind es Zebrastreifen, die ich in der klassischen Farbkonstellation Schwarzweiß mit einem kräftigen Rot kombiniert habe und dazu reichlich silbernen Schmuck trage.

Diese Bluse von Vero Moda war ursprünglich eine weite, offene Tunika, aber meine Schneiderin hat sie für mich in eine Bluse geändert, nun fühle ich mich wohl damit und kann sie sowohl zum Rock als auch zu Hosen tragen.

Kommt das Zebramuster für Euch in Frage? Wer unschlüssig ist, kann sich auch langsam mit Accessoires an das Thema herantasten, z.B. mit dieser schicken Tasche, einem Schal (klassisch) oder auch gestreiften Schuhe (diese finde ich absolut genial!)

WHAT TO WEAR WHEN TRAVELLING IN NOVEMBER

Travelling has always been part of my life, not only when I worked in the airline business for almost 15 years. That includes the most exotic places in the Far East, trips to Africa, the States or Mexico, beach holidays in the Mediterranean or city tours in Europe... by the way, I have done quite a few on my own!

The last couple of weeks have been a constant packing and unpacking of suitcases. First Portugal, followed by the Tchibo Blogger Event in Hamburg last week and right now I am in London.

How do you travel in the grey, cool and rainy month of November as a blogger who aims to be comfortable yet presentable? Think of long walks from the car to the terminal, security checks where you have to take off your coat, scarf, jacket, belt and boots and finally fully booked flights in Economy Class!

My Travel Look

Trenchcoat

It is leight weight, trendy, practical and in a neutral colour which can easily be combined with almost every outfit.

Cross Body Bag

This bag keeps your hands free when you shop at the duty free or wait at passport control. It is also safer wearing a handbag in front of your body. If you are travelling on a low cost carrier with strict "1 carry-on only", a small handbag can be squeezed into a tote.

Big Scarf

I always wear or take a big scarf or pashmina shawl with me to keep me warm especially with aircondition on board.

Shoes

Because of the season and bad weather, I wore boots with low heels. Usually I take an extra pair of ballerinas with me.

Trousers

Preferably stretch trousers for convenience. Black is always a good and versatile option. 

I never wear jeans for travelling! An old airliner inside rule said you won't have a chance for an upgrade wearing jeans... well, in black trousers I wasn't successful either ;-)

Neutral colours

Baggage weight restrictions limit what you can take with you. As I always struggle with packing light, I try to stick to neutral colours which are easier to combine for different outfits while en route. Style them with more colourful accessories or jewellery.

Long-haul flights naturally require an even more careful planning and packing, especially when you visit different climates.

Reisen hat schon immer zu meinem Leben gehört, nicht nur da ich fast 15 Jahre bei einer internationalen Fluggesellschaft gearbeitet habe und sehr viel gereist bin. Rund um die Welt in unzählige exotische Länder Asiens, mehrere Reisen in die USA, Afrika und Mexico, Urlaub am Mittelmeer und zahlreiche europäische Städtetrips gehören dazu.

In den letzten Wochen bin ich nur am Koffer ein- und auspacken, erst Portugal, danach zum Tchibo Blogger Event nach Hamburg und zur Zeit bin ich in London.

Was trägt man auf Flügen im grauen, nasskalten November, wenn es praktisch sein und doch schick aussehen soll? Touristenlook mit Rucksack und Turnschuhen kommt für mich nicht in Frage... 

Lange Wege vom Auto zum Terminal, aufwändige Sicherheitskontrollen, bei denen man gerade im Winter vom Mantel, Schal, Jacke, Gürtel bis zu den Stiefeln alles ausziehen und danach wieder anziehen muss und schließlich enge, volle Flüge in Economy!

Mein Reiseoutfit

Trenchcoat

Relativ leicht, praktisch und ein Klassiker, dennoch immer trendy. Die neutrale Farbe ist einfach perfekt kombinierbar.

Cross Body Bag

Ideal um die Hände an der Passkontrolle oder beim Duty Free shopping frei zu haben. Außerdem ist es sicherer, die Tasche im Gedränge vorne zu tragen. Ich nehme immer eine Reisetasche mit, am besten faltbar und man kann ggf. eine kleine Umhängetasche reinstecken - wichtig bei Billigfluglinien wie z.B. easyJet oder Ryanair, die eine sehr strikte Handgepäckregelung haben.

Schal

Ich habe immer ein großes Tuch oder auch einen Pashminaschal dabei, die in der Maschine oder bei zu kalter Klimaanlage sehr angenehm sind.

Schuhe

Aufgrund des Wetters hatte ich mich für flache Stiefel entschieden. Normalerweise habe ich immer ein paar leichte Ballerinas zum Wechseln dabei.

Hose

Am liebsten mit Stretchanteil, Schwarz ist meist meine erste Wahl, sieht schick aus und passt immer.

Ich trage beim Fliegen nie Jeans! Alte Airliner-Regel: Wenn Du Dir die Chance auf ein Upgrade nicht völlig verbauen möchtest, trage keine Jeans! 
...ich habe allerdings in den letzten Jahren trotzdem nie ein upgrade bekommen ;-)

Neutrale Farben

Langweilig oder nicht, jedenfalls kann ich diese Töne bestens untereinander kombinieren, denn ich schaffe es sowieso immer wieder, an die maximale Gepäckgrenze zu stoßen! Daher lieber mit farbigen oder gemusterten Accessoires stylen.

Auf Langstreckenflügen gilt es natürlich noch viel mehr zu beachten, vor allem wenn man in ein anderes Klima reist.
