ANN of BLUE HUE WONDERLAND
"I named my blog ‘Blue Hue Wonderland’ because it grew out of a blue time in my life and the northern light where I live has a blue cast. The word ‘wonderland’ describes the quality I’m searching for when I make my photos."
Ann is an artist and this doesn't only show in her dressing style but also in her photographs. I have been following Ann's blog for quite a while now and I am not only impressed by her looks but also by her photos which are real pieces of art!
Influenced by the cold weather of Minnesota, Ann has a fantastic collection of very stylish and colourful coats and looks as elegant in the snow as she does in summer! And her variety of unique handbags and clutches is incredible...
On many blogs we see seasonal trends, whether it has been the ZARA "skort" or the Céline trapeze bag. Ann's style is timeless and always truly herself. I couldn't agree more when she describes it as "classic with an artistic flair".

This is a 4yrs old amazing video of Ann's and her husband's artwork which is fascinating for me as my father is a retired woodcarver. I grew up with his workplace full of all types of wood, freehand sketches, clay models and half finished figurines and know exactly how much talent, work and time an artist dedicates to a single piece!

Ann
ist Künstlerin und das sieht man nicht nur ihrem Stil, sondern auch ihren Photos an. Ich folge ihrem Blog jetzt schon ziemlich lang und für mich sind ihre Outfits und wie sie sich damit präsentiert, immer richtige Kunstwerke.
Auch aufgrund des Klimas in Minnesota, USA an der kanadischen Grenze, hat Ann eine unglaubliche Kollektion an Mänteln - keine normalen beigen oder schwarzen, sondern bedruckt oder in kräftigen Farben, figurbetont und ausgefallen. Dazu eine beneidenswerte Auswahl an Handtaschen - von elegant bis extravagant!
Auf vielen Blogs sieht man genau, was derzeit im Trend liegt, ob der bekannte "Skort" von ZARA oder die Trapeztasche von Céline. Ann's Stil dagagen ist zeitlos und immer sie selbst. Genau wie sie selbst sagt "klassisch mit künstlerischem Flair".
Hier geht es zu einem ca. 4 Jahre alten Video, in dem Ann ihre und die Projekte ihres Mannes vorstellt. Mein Vater, ein mittlerweile pensionierter Holzbildhauer hat in seiner eigenen Werkstatt verschiedenste Holzarten, unzählige Schnitzeisen, handgefertigte Skizzen und Tonmodelle, sowie halbfertige Schnitzereien. In diesem Umfeld aufgewachsen, weiß ich genau wieviel Begabung, Handarbeit, Zeit und Hingabe in einem einzigen Werk stecken!
Would you share some personal information? Where do you come from and live?
I live in St. Paul, Minnesota in the US. I work as an artist and collaborate with my husband in our art business for over 25 years. I enjoy gardening, my home and looking at art of all kinds.
I started Blue Hue Wonderland after a difficult time in my life. Both of my parents were in declining health and during this time I struggled with managing their care and continuing my work. I had very little time for myself and dressing in an attractive way felt impossible. Currently my life has become easier and I like sharing my style and providing links to products. I enjoy fashion and relating to women, especially those over 40. I have worn a wide variety of styles in my life and I want to keep experimenting as I age.

Würdest Du ein paar persönliche Informationen preisgeben? Woher kommst Du und wo lebst Du?
Ich lebe in St. Paul, Minnesota in USA und und arbeite seit über 25 Jahren als Künstlerin mit meinem Mann zusammen. In meiner Freizeit arbeite ich gerne im Garten, im Haus und beschäftige mich mit jeder Art von Kunst.
Wann hast Du angefangen zu bloggen und was möchtest Du mit Deinem Blog erreichen?
Ich habe Blue Hue Wonderland nach einer schweren Zeit in meinem Leben begonnen. Meinen Eltern ging es gesundheitlich sehr schlecht und ich habe mich gleichzeitig um ihre Pflege als auch um meine Arbeit gekümmert. Ich hatte kaum Zeit für mich selbst, geschweige denn, mich schick zu kleiden! Mittlerweile wurde es in meinem Leben wieder ruhiger und ich habe Freude daran, meinen Stil zu zeigen, über Mode zu sprechen und mich mit Frauen, speziell in der Altersgruppe über 40 auszutauschen. Ich habe schon viele verschiedene Stile getragen und möchte auch jetzt nicht aufhören, etwas neues auszuprobieren.
I think my style is classic with an artistic flair. I live in a climate that is cold during the winter and my favorite item of clothing is a coat. I also enjoy accenting classic items with unexpected handbags. I think I am more aware of trends since I began blogging. I follow many blogs and I can’t help but absorb changing trends.

Wie würdest Du Deinen Stil beschreiben? Folgst Du Trends? Was macht Deinen eigenen Stil aus?
Ich beschreibe meinen Stil als 'klassisch mit künstlerischem Flair'. Im Winter ist es in meiner Gegens sehr kalt und daher sind Mäntel mein Lieblingskleidungsstück. Ich style gerne klassische Kleidung mit unerwarteten Handtaschen .
Trends verfolge ich mehr, seit ich blogge und lese viele Blogs und natürlich integriere ich auch Trends in meine Looks.
Are you a full time blogger? Who takes your photos? How do you balance your time dedicated to the blog with your regular job?
I am a full time artist who creates a blog as one of my creative expressions. I’m particularly interested in photography, in fact I studied it before attending art college. My husband takes my pictures although I find the locations and edit my weekly posts. Blogging does take more of my time than I thought it would. I watch very little television these days and my home isn’t quite as tidy as it once was!

Bist Du eine Vollzeitbloggerin? Wie teilst Du die Zeit zwischen Bloggen und Deinem Beruf auf? Wer macht Deine Fotos?
Ich bin hauptberuflich Künstlerin und mein Blog ist für mich eine Art, meine Kunst auszudrücken. Ich interessiere mich ganz besonders für Photographie und habe es studiert bevor ich die Kunstakademie besuchte. Mein Mann macht alle Photos für den Blog, aber ich wähle die locations aus und stelle auch alle wächentlichen posts zusammen. Mein Blog beansprucht mehr und mehr Zeit, ich sehe z.B. kaum noch Fernsehen und zum Haushalt komme ich auch weniger als früher!

Do you prefer online shopping or do you love extensive shopping trips?
I do not spend a lot time browsing but prefer keeping my eye on the brands I adore and waiting for the best price.
Do you shop designer clothes, high street, outlet centres or thrift shops? Or a mix of all?
I have clothing from all of the places you mentioned. Here in the US we have great consignment stores which sell current items. I sell some of my clothing there and buy things when I see something interesting. I am a fan of the American designer BCBG Max Azria. This line makes items with details and a graphic quality I feel great wearing.
Ich suche nicht viel in Online Shops, sondern konzentriere mich mich auf meine Lieblingsmarken und schaue dort nach speziellen Angeboten.
Alles gemischt. Wir haben hier in USA fantastische Secondhand Läden, die aktuelle Kleidung anbieten. Dort kaufe und verkaufe ich häufig. Ich liebe den amerikanischen Designer BCBG Max Azria. Die Kollektion mit besonderen Details und Qualität entspricht mir genau.

I’m following many blogs for many reasons. I like some for the fashion and others because I like the writing, humor or just enjoy a special quality about the photography. I follow blogs that show styling different from my own and all ages of women. Some that I regularly leave comments on are Glam up your Lifestyle, My Small Wardrobe, Pants and Tops, The Style Crone and of course, The Lady of Style.
